WMLBA Hires Director of Basketball Operations-Shad Williams

By | News | No Comments

San Antonio native, Burshaud ‘Shad’ Williams, is an accomplished all-level basketball coach and mentor. Over the last several years, he has dedicated his time and effort to a variety of athletes that range from middle school children to adult minor league professionals. Speak to anyone who knows him and they’ll tell you he commands the floor from the sidelines and the meeting rooms.
Coach Shad’s love for the sport grew at an early age and eventually led him to the collegiate level at Eastern Oklahoma and Southern Nazarene University; but, that wasn’t the end of the road. His talents elevated him into the semi-professional world with the Pro Am in Houston, then in Cozumel, Mexico, and finally for the Lackland Air Force team for 2 seasons. It was during this time Williams decided he wanted to make basketball his career but with a slightly different twist: coaching.
He began coaching in 2006 as a way to give back to his community and the sport he loves. With over a decade of experience, his countless opportunities are testament to his dedication to the business and coaching aspects of the sport. Coach Shad currently runs an organization called Play To Score! – San Antonio, a unique private program that offers comprehensive training in overall basketball development. Athletes gain all-around athletic ability while also increasing their knowledge and skill in the game of basketball. Outside of his organization, he coaches with the Spurs Basketball Youth Program and served as Head Coach of the Alamo City Aztecs, a team in the North American Basketball League (NABL), during their inaugural 2016-2017 season. He has also volunteered time with the NBA G-League and American Basketball Association (ABA). His vast but close network of industry professionals both nationally and internationally can attest to his commitment and enthusiasm for the game.
When not on the court, you can find Coach Shad spending time with his 11-year-old son, Blake, or supporting the San Antonio community in service projects both on his own and with the organizations he works in conjunction with.
Help us officially welcome Coach Shad to the WMLBA family as Director of Basketball Operations!
